Primatologist Amy Vedder has always had a passion for gorillas. Following in the steps of Dian Fossey, she sets off in the national volcanic park between Zaire and Rwanda in seach of an intelligent and sociable primate: the mountain gorilla. Human contact with the gorillas is difficult to establish, involving endless patience and a calm disposition. However, once Amy gains the trust of the gorillas, they gladly approach people. Amy's privileged experiences with these magnificent animals help to disprove all of our inherent ideas of gorillas as wild and aggressive beasts. Sadly however, they continue to be victims of poaching and deforestation, leaving only a pitiful 250 mountain gorillas left in the park.
